DL Celebrity and World Class athlete; Lisa Goldsmith checks in with our humble Headquarters after her recent appearance at the Boston Marathon. Lisa, a multi-national trail and peak running champion, does not often take on ‘flat landers’…
here is what our Fleet Footed Goddess of the High Peaks wrote me yesterday…
“ShiVA Muscle
Namaste! I have been out and about traveling to SoCal for family & friends visiting – !
BeanTown was terrific; I not run so fast as I thought I could, but I am funny these days à I ran off the back off the womens’ {elite} field (of only 60 or so) caring for my fear of going out too fast; this had me run EVERY SINGLE STEP OF THE WAY all by me lonesome, passing a few as they faltered along the course; I especially enjoyed strength on the hills that I haven’t had the previous 4 times, which was a fine and glorious journey in Boston. I probably missed out on a few minutes difference in my time by having no draft and shared energy in the final miles of stiff headwind, but I ran a 2:59:08. My first mile was 6:55, average overall 6:50, AND I came away with nary a ping in my physical body and really not even sore beyond the day after. So, it feels like a triumph of handling the course and distance in a calm way. My reflection is that it felt “easy.”
And, now, I go UPHILL to get ready for the Mountain in New Hampshire in June – yippee!
