when i first heard of a Hydroxycut® death, first i chanted the Tribal Mantra for the deceased one’s Soul through the Bardo, another Mantra for that person’s family, and a final Mantra for the worldwide Sangha of Suffering.

then, i admit, a much Lower Self of ilg jumped to the ThoughtWave:
“See, i KNEW it! Those &%$# companies that produce that crap! Why can’t everyone just LISTEN TO ME and use our Whole Food Herbs of SUNRIDER® to help their efforts in losing fat, healthfully!?!?!”

then, like those of you who are wisely using the MAP Amino Acids, i received from the makers of MAP; BodyHealth, the following perspective from their Head Guy, Dr. Minkoff.

i gave a smiling pause after i read it…then, reMinded Joy to make sure our next order of MAP Aminos is on track.

instead of ridiculing the makers of Hydroxycut® like i did whenever their cheesy, greedy commercials interrupted my taped viewing of sport events, Dr. Minkoff’s words created some more space in my heart of understanding. Hec, Trish and i certainly remember the Dark Time when many moons ago, SUNRIDER® was fighting tooth and nail with the FDA when a batch of NuPlus® caused salmonella in one person, which was quickly resolved and resulted in the now micro-scopically sterile and pure manufacturing plants that you can visit at SUNRIDER World Headquarters.

without further ado, i give you Dr. Minkoff:

I am not a fan of Hydroxycut. In fact, I think it’s the wrong thing to do for weight loss. Our product, Healthy Thin, is better and when combined with MAP and our weight reduction diet, Hydroxycut doesn’t hold a candle – if you want to be really anabolic while you lose the fat. However, the very popular product has been taken by tens of millions of people for over seven years. Yet because of one death and a couple dozen cases of liver disease the FDA recalled the product. Motive? The FDA decided the public had to be protected. Never mind that prescription medications are the fourth leading cause of death in the US, that at least 106,000 per year die from taking them, and that at least 2 million a year are injured by medication reactions, or that the COX 2 inhibitor Vioxx was calculated to have killed at least 60,000 people and yet considered safe by the FDA. Or vaccines, what is the autism toll? How irksome!

Dietary supplements aren’t immune from causing harm and sometimes those using them abuse them by taking too much or by neglecting their basic nutrition. This sets them up for untoward reactions. But the risk of dietary supplements is negligible compared to prescription medication and I believe that the FDA targeting this company while neglecting the real damage being done to millions by prescription pharmaceuticals is unjust and unjustified.
