Backbends; Opening Your Story…

Backbends during our HP Yoga™ class early this morning…ever wonder why they call it a ‘spine’ of a book? well, bend backward your own spine. sustain the backbend for some time. what c(om)es up? that is your story.

it may c(om)e as a surprise to you, however,  your feeble teacher bends his spine backward each and every morning for no less than 4 minutes and often linger in a sustained backbend for three times that amount.

trust me,
when i was paralyzed, spending such time volumes in a backbend seemed to ilg to be fodder for another future life…not this one…yet, Here Now, is ilg…each morning, often at 4:45am…back bending my spine in ways that  most 50 year-olds would find extremely excruciating and taxing and leave them breathless and full of fear of ‘breaking their back’…which is ironic to me now…yet,  if we don’t back bend our spine?   that is what literally breaks our back!

i use an inversion bench; a simple affair into which i insert my skull,  lever my legs up over head, and rest my shoulders on the pads and then begin Ujjayi Breathing and Mula Bandha.   this is the start of my own verison of EMR…a Practice that is critical to all students of WF.

sustained backbends are tantamount to the practice any spiritual athlete and able bodied warrior seeking to remain as such.

backbends ignite the chakral and nadic field energy in a similar way that field lightning ignites a thunderclouded sky.

backbends increase the spongy qualities necessary for having your spine nourish your neuro-hormonal and entire skeletal spigot of the prana.

backbends are the chalice which supports our inner fountain of youth.

do backbends more,  talk less.
