Wholistic Fitness®  Virtual Race Weekend 2/3  –    MTB Race Day:  Friday, May 22 – Course Description

NOTE:    THIS ENTIRE RACE COURSE WILL BE FEATURED VIA MY GOPRO RECON RIDE ON MY vLog57 premiering on Steve Ilg on YouTube and FB this MONDAY MORNING!   PLEASE WATCH!  

Based on YOUR input and my recon; all MTB racers will NOT NEED to descend to the Stone Monument after Lap 1/2!

INSTEAD:   after descending Ella Vita?  omit the left turn off to Ella Vita Cul De Sac and just carry your downhill momentum back onto the Pedestrian Path climb for Lap 2!   This eliminates any pavement for Lap Two.   it shortens the distance considerably,  yet?  Heightens the fun and safety factor!

MTB Course Description:

•  “LeMan’s Start” Required:   Start off your bike, touching the Stone Monument at Schneider Park with your foot, then starting your watch.  Mount your bike and take off North on Roosa; AWARE OF TRAFFIC!

•  First LEFT (west) onto Avenida Del Sol (do NOT go up Cemetery Road)…

• Crank uphill past Manna’s (intersection!) onto paved Ella Vita Ct to the Durango Trails  footbridge.  Footbridge onto connector trail.  at intersection, Left (uphill) onto the Pedestrian Path (you’ll go up this TWICE, so pace thyself!).  Top of Ped Path, turn Right (North) onto Old Landfill Road for about 150 meters.  Look left for a westward leading shale shoulder BEFORE  the old Landfill!   Climb it!  Good luck trying to clean it!

• Top out and veer RIGHT (northwest) onto the old irrigation ditch which is now an official part of the Hogsfoot Trail;  recover as you finally watch your average speed go up!

•  Watch for the on-ramp onto Hogsfoot Singletrack proper and enjoy a fun descent into undulating, at times techy northern traverse crossing two bridges (first bridge is TECHY and a bit dangerous if you don’t clean it!!! )

• Ascend the “zig zags” overlooking the Old Landfill to Rider Right…crank hard, cuz you’re about to read Top Out!

• Note intersection to Hogsback Standard East Face on Rider Left,  STAY RIGHT and enjoy the scintillating downhill PAST “8 Bells” and then do NOT miss:

•  HARD RIGHT (south) onto Ella Vita trail and this has GOT TO BE some of the most fun singletrack in D-town!   Descend the rollicky Ella Vita (DO  NOT VEER RIDER LEFT ONTO FALCON!) all the way to the intersection of initial Durango Trails Footbridge Pedestrian Path.  Continue your downhill m(om)entum back up the Ped Path and HAMMER your second lap!

• after descending Ella Vita for the 2nd Time?  take the connector trail back across the initial Durango Trails Footbridge and spring back onto paved Ella Vita Ct

• Pr(om)ise ilg you WILL SAFELY OBEY ALL TRAFFIC SIGNAGE back to Stone Monument!    Dismount and touch Stone Monument and if possible take a pic of your watch/time and send it to ilg:   either by text:  818 590 2922  or email steve@wholisticfitness.com
