The most important thing is not to get trapped in what I see everywhere in the West, a ‘shopping mentality:’

shopping around from master to master, teaching to teaching, without any continuity or real, sustained

dedication to any one discipline. – Sogyal Rinpoche

Coach,

Here is a great one. I was in the gym here in Afghanistantrying some of yourworkoutdescribed inJanuary’sOutside Magazine.A fellow Marine was there doing his workout; I’ll describe him, hebenches over 300 lbs, squats double that, cant run 500 feet without dying, and I’m sure his hands havent met his feet since he wasa child, recognize him? He sees me with three yoga blocks…….. andI quote”man those don’t weigh nothin, you cant get strong with those”.

I knew his ego couldnt turn down a bet from a’weakling’ like me. I bethim he couldnt hold one between his legs and two together out in front of him for a minute (staccato technique, extended yogi squat). He made it thirty seconds. To his credit, he picked them upand said, “show me more”. He will be joining me at the next Yoga class. Amen brother!

Dear Coach-

Thank you so much for the ski lesson.

I had so much fun.

I cannot wait to ski again.

I cannot even imagine trying to

ski without having the wonderful fitness

foundation that you and my other incredible WF

teachers have gifted me.

I truly feel the results and besides some

well trained thighs and triceps, I feel great.

See you on the slopes soon.

Dear Coach Ilg,

the picture of you on the DL (12/4) is incredible! I know you are lean, but man –you look shredded like a mf’erin that picture! More importantly,I know how functional that ripped body is.

Inspiring. Simply inspiring!

FEELING THE CHI OF WF:

on the final climb at mile 57 on my bike coming home:

hitting Topanga steeps with that mileage in my legs; oooof!

thank GOD for SUNRIDER and WF, baby!

my mind was quiet

my spin was fast…errr, at least steady and strong!

empty of stomach, full of Pran!

RUNNING ON EMPTY BABY!

those who live the Tribal Way

standunder (understand)

the Wisdom and Beauty of the WF Way!

in sweat our truth is broken;

WF Warriors don’t break a sweat as much

as we break the layer of ego.

the rest of your Truth is up to how long and/or how intense

you choose to sweat…

decades of ego building

destroyed breath by breath

sweat droplet by precious sweat droplet

during Conscious WF workouts!

nothing like WF Dharma!

i bow to you,

your ever empty coach ilg

Learn to look without imagination, to listen without distortion: that is all.

Stop attributing names and shapes to the essentially nameless and formless, realize that every mode of perception is subjective, that what is seen or heard, touched or smelt, felt or thought, expected or imagined, is in the mind and not in reality, and you will experience peace and freedom from fear.

Dearest Coaches –

A quote I recently read:

“Remember, life is not measured by the number of breaths

we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”

Thanks for all you do!
