Explaining WHOLISTIC FITNESS

Those of us who study the Wholistic Fitness Personal Training System (WFPTS) quickly realize we are on a unique Path. We soon discover that others are drawn to our unique and balanced approach to a fitness lifestyle. Because it is a spiritual path, it is difficult to describe the transformative philosophies and techniques of Wholistic Fitness. Creator & Founder, Steve Ilg has said, “Just living the WF Path is the best way to ‘explain’ the work. Returning to breath and posture, meeting the difficulties and joys of life with equanimity best defines genuine WF practice. The fitness workouts are actually secondary to the inner workouts.”

When asked, however, we must be able to clarify our humble, yet powerful body/mind Path. Below are a few phrases to help describe WF to others. It is very important to share this important work with others. If you would like to have us send you some WF Business Cards to hand out, just let us know at www.WholisticFitness.com.

The Wholistic Fitness Personal Training System (WFPTS) is a complete, multi-disciplined approach to lifestyle fitness training. Our emphasis uses fitness training as a vehicle for personal and spiritual growth. One may study this work by Coach’s pioneering ‘Online Training System’ or privately. 95% of the international ‘official’ Wholistic Fitness Tribe are Online Students. Many thousands of others enjoy our ‘Tribal Light’ through Coach’s books, dvds, cds, and through his ongoing visibility in the worldwide media. Coach’s award-winning Online Journal called, “DIRECT LINES; Daily Meditations From Coach Ilg” has been called by some, “A modern day miracle,” and continues to be offered as a complimentary wellspring straight from the worldwide student base and Coach’s own inspiring, informative, and utterly unique quest for fusing Western Fitness Concepts with Eastern Based Lifestyle Practices. The result from enjoying a WF Lifestyle is your own spiritual development that creates a diamond hard body and a calm, focused mind.

Some WF quick-note descriptions:

Wholistic Fitness is the world’s original transpersonal (mind/body/spirit) fitness method. The system was professionally introduced in 1982 by Steve Ilg, a professional adventure athlete and trainer, in Boulder, Colorado.

The WFPTS uses Four Lifestyle Principles and Five Fitness Disciplines to produce unmatched balance and progress in personal fitness and spiritual growth.

The Four Lifestyle Principles are: 1) Breath and Posture, 2) Mindfulness, 3) Appropriate Action, and 4) Practice.

The Five Fitness Disciplines are: 1) Strength Training 2) Cardiovascular Training, 3) High Performance Yoga, 4) Meditation, 5) Nutrition.

Beginning Online Students are encouraged to practice a few of the disciplines to produce a wonderful, balanced training effect in mind and body while ‘Master Students’ are on a quest to master each element in The Wholistic Fitness Personal Training System. This is a very noble, direct Path and if used for Self Realization, is is a very difficult pursuit.

The Wholistic Fitness Personal Training System has successfully trained thousands of people across the world. Wholistic Fitness is a registered trademark of Steve Ilg.

Owner Expertise Makes The WF Difference: Founder Steve Ilg has authored five books (TOTAL BODY TRANSFORMATION, released in 2005 by Hyperion is his latest), competed in five World Championships in four different sports, is a registered Yoga Teacher, cycling coach and champion, a Director in SUNRIDER herbs, and speaker.

Teacher Lineage/Influences: WF was cultivated during Steve’s self-healing from a paraylzing mountaineering fall in the early eighties. His LifeWork has been largely influenced by his homeland of southwestern Colorado and the Native Americana of that region. His first ‘Ishta Devata’, as a child, was an auspicious black wolf hybrid, named ‘Apache’ from whom he learned many wilderness and transpersonal teachings. Later, while attending a Tibetan Contemplative Arts University, he was recognized as a “Protector of the Dharma.” He is currently living in Los Angeles as a part of his Spiritual Duty to help bring this Work to those who need it the most.
