HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY; My Cat In Her Lap Mom!
how i know my mom; always gifting Love and Powerful Dharma through
her Way of Being…and, never a kitty cat further than an arm’s length away!
a pic of my mom, last year at the end of a long holiday gathering with “Abby” in her lap.

To My Mom on Mother’s Day, 2005
this morning’s meditation i Gift to you
for your gardening of my soul
subtle layers of nurturing
picking up infinite trash on Reservations
just because “someone has to.”
you drowned my intellect
into the sea of karma yoga;
“Steve, just be good, be honest, and share what you have to Give…
that’s all…i will always be proud of you if you do that.”
my swimming never ends
my life waters have known more Darkness than Light
yet your Love for me
has remained the Watchful candle when even the Moon refused
to rise…
“Steve, be your own best friend. The world doesn’t know you…
you do. You have to die all by yourself.”
My mom,
my Tibetan Teacher in drag…
Oh my noble mom..
i sit here on this Day
manufactured for you and attempt to count the Blessings
of having you as my mom…
i never was much good at math…the numbers are just too many…
i love you and am still swimming,
however feebly in the Ocean of Love which you gave me…
“Let us be grateful to people who make us happy;
they are the charming gardeners
who make our souls blossom.”
– Proust
Happy Mother’s Day!
love,
your son, steve
