Kate Wolf; author of Brother Warrior

Noble Coach Ilg,
I wish both you and Ananda a chi-filled move to your new h(OM)e. And make sure that you take the time to just Be Together for awhile in this new environment, too.

Amazing that you chose to highlight the lyrics from “Brother Warrior” in your last DL. Not only will I listen to it, I will play it mindfully on my guitar for you both. I know this song well, as it was written by Kate Wolf, an absolutely stunning warrior poet who left the stage too soon to leukemia. She was from California and there is an wonderful celebration of her life every year now that brings the most amazing singer-songwriters, poets, and alive people that you can imagine. She had a very strong commitment to community, the environment, and friendship, too, and I suspect that she would have found a home within WF.

Peace to you both, and travel well. You will be in my heart.
Namaste,
WF Online Student michael thompson of Clan Haku

Steve,
Just read today’s DL. Best wishes with the move!

Fascinating that you mentioned “Brother Warrior” in DL. When I trained in cardio prior to the current Green Tara, I would often listen to “Brother Warrior” on my MP3 player when I was on the elliptical trainer. Quite a few times, the repetitive motion and that tune got me lost in thought/visualization of snowshoeing across a rugged mountain…not unlike that photo of Kinlani…to the point where even though I was 30 minutes into the session and sweating profusely, I could feel the cold mountain air across my skin and get chilled. Definitely something to explore during the upcoming days of 110+!

Amanda, Marisa and I (and perhaps Max the lab) may take a pilgrammage down to Flagstaff this summer to pay a visit. We can make Motel 6 our base camp, get some hikes in, continue the girls’ education in the outdoors…and visit Ilg…and formally meet Joy…if your schedules permit a brief visit one weekend. Amanda is very jazzed about the idea.
Love,
John
