Another Noble Warrior Goes Down In Battle…in the current RAAM (Race Across AMerica)
In Flagstaff, my home town, bicycles are largely considered the primary vehicle of choice and are respected as equals to cars. In most towns, however, bicyclists seemed to be scorned as ignoble, bothersome insects. This insect stands up for all bicyclists, and this morning i must once again bow in sadness, for all those like Dr. Bob Breedlove who are willing to sweat their way to self cultivation, work, and play. For those of us who train for, compete in, and honor Ultracycling as a highly effective form of yoga to help us become better beings while alive and more tenacious during our Bardo Entry, i dedicate this morning’s DL and my Club Training Ride this morning to Dr. Breedlove…i met him once and felt his chi. He was a go(o)d Warrior and elegant Being. “In Bob’s RAAM bio, he said his ultimate goal was to keep riding a bike until he’s 80 and he was most intimidated by illness, injury or death. The thing he would most like to express to the world is love. With love this world would be paradise. Bob was full of love and extremely humble and helpful to all those who knew and loved him.”
May Bob’s travel through the Bardo be Blessed and his intimidation of death be erased by a Divine Tailwind through the Bardo.
And as i head out this crisp, birdsong filled morning to enjoy that cherished sensation of flight upon a bicycle, i pray that all car drivers practice Wholistic Fitness type of exercise including meditation to increase their overall fitness and Awareness when behind the wheel of a killing machine.
head bowed upon still strong legs and lungs,
