OPENING THE HIPS; Mini Sequence While On The Road

coach ilg, thankful for his hip opening sequences such as below, shown testing the training effect from Practice. Mountain yogis turn vertical and overhanging cliff walls into their yoga mats in order to test their mental and physical skills on the sharp end of a climbing route. “La Petite Verdon” sport climbing area near Flagstaff. bro,
DL archives…etc.
you up to something arent you?
peace,
haku

p.s. was looking for the photo of you doing pigeon on the picnic table to show Nat…
probably my favorite and most important asana…even though those hips have not loosened up even a millimeter in 5 years..I have faith

Most Noble Haku!
here you go!…see below and give my love to Nat!
if i teach ANYTHING through this noble yet humble Path of Transformation, it is to cherish the nobility of all-Ways
being a Beginner!
and oftentimes, it is not IF the hips open/release (it took me 13 years of steady work to get the initial Shift),
it’s all about precisely what you are doing:
Being Brave In The Ongoing Attempt To Open The H(om)e of the Lower Chakras (the Hips/Lower back)

You are developing your Faith, Perseverance, and the introversion of the mental focus (dharana) within the body and away from the senses (pratyhara).

Can’t beat that, eh? Proud of you and any endurance athlete that never wavers in their attempt to open their Hips!

see you at Red Mountain where we will Dance into more Hip Opening sequences!

May this help…

love,
coach ilg

ps; the following photos were taken by Ananda in Indian Creek Canyon, Utah last year during a climbing trip.

#1; releasing the biceps of the legs, lengthening the lower back connections

#2; i like to ‘churn’ my lower back and upper spine before directing attention to the hips. this pre-releases the anatomical connectors to the external and internal hip rotators.

#3; an upright version of my ‘Gecko Pose’ specific to High Performance Yoga

#4; elongation of the spine; using Uddiyana Bandha (upward flying internal lock) to literally lift the spine away from the pelvic structure before…

#5; going deeper baby…note my allegiance to the flat, elegant spine…the hallmark quality and pivotal asanic anchor of High Performance Yoga. (yes, that is ‘Nalanda’ – my ‘cross bike – sneaking into the photos in the background!)
