Okay,
now that everybody has had their oversensationalized fun…

May all the Beings that have monetarily profited from “Super” Bowl #….uhhhh…Whatever…
use at least a FRACTION of their overpaid Abundance to re-Support at least ONE of the following high school programs
that i know,
by Direct Experience and many years of sadness and futile hours of attempting to resuscitate,
have been cut by the immense pressure of a high school “having to have” a ‘successful’ football program:

 alpine ski program
 soccer program
 nordic ski program
 nordic combined ski program
 girls volleyball program
 boys volleyball program
 girls cross country running program
 boys cross country running program
 girls track program

High School Team Sport Programs that survive in the face of Football Programs:
2 = basketball and baseball

High School Solo Sport Programs that survive in the face of Football Programs:
0 = Zero

so, what happens to the next Lance Armstrong? the next Vegard Ulvang? the next Lynn Hill?

when High School Football Programs overwhelm the choices for a young boy or girl to be forced into Team Sports
because Team Sports are easier to Televise and thus produce more money…
where does that lead our society Leaders?

you do the math.

sometimes, like myself, an adolescent is too intimated by being forced into the whole Team Sports thing…where are these young children to learn Self Esteem? Leadership skills? Self Reliance?

personally?
if i were any member of the Steelers or in any way associated with the advertisers of SuperBowl Whatever,
i would be damn sure to contribute at least some money and energy to the development of
ALL SPORTS
or
FITNESS EDUCATION
at the High School Level.

oh, i forced myself through enough of today’s supposedly “Super” Bowl and its parasitic advertisers to feel Go(o)d about one thing only:

My Spiritual Practice.

if Rothensburger or whatever his name was, had any integrity, he woulda done the Noble Act
like solo athletes in the Real Sports…
after his “Touchdown” at the end of the first half, he shoulda just jumped up and told the Ref,
“dude, i know that was not a touchdown…just put the football a few inches away from the Goal Line and on the next play i will make a REAL touchdown!”

(if THAT measly excuse of a TD was in fact a TD?!?! shit, put ME in!!! i could make feeble excuses for TD’s like that!!!)

and, having the “Neutral Game” in Detroit, is not, i am sorry…a “neutral” playing field.

they shoulda played it in a cornfield in far east Colorado and disallow any electronic communication between players, coaches, and staff. keep it friggin’ REAL, man!!!! how many Hockey Players or coaches do YOU see wearing friggin’ Radio Shack Astronaut Electronics all over their heads? that ain’t sport…that’s…uh….NASA or some shit…

but then again…if they DID play the “Super” Bowl in some lil Unwired Cornfield in Eastern Colorado or Montana…
that woulda decreased TV income profit margins…

and we CAN’T HAVE THAT!!!!!

i mean,
whaddya think this is after all…

SPORT?

to the Steelers; be happy within for your season (and that one cool, “gadget play” that went for a TD)…
otherwise,
be quiet, humble, and next year, do what i did:
SWITCH SPORTS!

let’s see how Athletic you REALLY are at heart!
how about Marathon Running?
Sport Climbing?
Extreme Skiing?
yoga?
hell, do something…
but do something ELSE!!!!!!

and use your Big Paycheck to HELP formative physical education and sport programs!

share your wealth…cuz any sport that can afford to hire the ROLLING STONES and have Alcoholic Inspiring commercials run continuously…is a sport that can damn well afford to give back to support other sports for our obese children!

that is all,

keeping it real during Kali Yuga,

coach ilg
