Eugene Sandow, one of Wholistic Fitness� Granddad’s, was interested not only in functional feats of strength displays, such as his renown One Arm Man Lift pictured above (try it!), yet, he also considered the look, symmetry, general proportion, and leanness of his body to be considered functional art.
I love this shot of my spiritual Grandpapa…as a terribly, terribly skinny boy, i modeled my physique building attempts after Grandaddy Sandow. Like Wholistic Fitness�, Eugene’s philosophy and ongoing years of incredible, unmatched, often misunderstood physique + athleticism would set the Standard for all fitness enthusiasts that, like you and i, would eventually follow in his brave artistry of self.
