A Recession is not a recession?

When rocks begin to float and grow.

Perhaps living so intimately with such geologic gems as…

the Grand Canyon just 65 miles away (photo by WF Student Sauve)..

…ancient volcanos such as Doko Ooslid just across the street (photo by ilg, from atop Kendrick Peak…another volcano)

..and eon-old soaring vaults of Wingate sandstone walls (photo by ilg, near Hurricane, Utah)

predisposes a Warrior toward an evolution of understanding the utter significance and insignificance of our 100-year crack at Enlightenment during our current Human lifespan…

We live on a sphere of extremes and intensities. Unless our notion of Personal Fitness pivots upon becoming very, very devoted to both of the realms of Extreme and Intensity, than, well, we’re gonna be in for a BIG SURPRISE upon entering the Bardo.

i have spoken much about the Bardo in this forum and its printed precursor; The Journal of Wholistic Fitness.
. see my footnote, BARDO 101*

Fact is, rocks do float and they do grow.
In a volcanic eruption, the intense “separation of gas from lava produces a ‘frothy’ rock called pumice, loaded with gas bubbles,” which can,say the geologists, allow these rocks to float. Oh, and they also say that rocks called iron-manganese crusts grow on mountains under the sea by using seawater, growing about 1 millimeter every million years which, ironically (pun intended), is about the same rate of hip opening progress on my body. Oh yeah, and my calf development occurs at roughly that same rate.

The point i’m gunning toward is that, well, i LOVE hanging out with geologists which is something i’ve done a lot of, and that in order to understand a Recession from a spiritual perspective, we must elevate our consciousness waaaaaay out of the ordinary realms of seeing.

just as a geologist can ‘see’ beach sand on top of Mount Everest, so too the yogi must learn to ‘see’ his or her life – and the challenges and joys within it – from a perspective soooo utterly vast that it makes geologic time tables look like time-elapsed photography.

What i am speaking of, is – of course – the yogic notion of Yuga or ‘world eon’.

i go, you go, yoga, Yuga!

According to yogis, everything that we are capable of seeing or exploring with our little microscopes and satellites and darling little spaceships is manifested by the go(o)dness of Brahma (do NOT tell me you’ve forgotten what i have Taught you about Brahma, Shiva, and Vishnu!). Brahma hangs out for about 100 of his years which corresponds to 311,040,000,000,000 human years…give or or take a few. what we see as the UniVerse (OnePoem) is created, according to Feurstein’s definition,

“concurrently with his birth, and upon his death it vanishes completely. After a period of latency, lasting 100 brahmic years, a new Brahma springs forth from the Divine and withi him a new universe.”

What’s all this Divine Beingness got to do with you possibly losing your job in the ‘recession’?

everything. and then some.

our current Yuga, Kali Yuga, is the final one of four which began, well, let’s just say a longer time ago than even the most wildly thinking geologist could ever grock.

i give you Dr. Amitabh Dixit. please study closely:

Yuga –A span of 4,320,000 years

One thousand of these yugas equal one day of Brahma, which is called a kalpa. Brahma’s lifespan is 100 years of his time. In each yuga there is a specific process
of self-realization (yugadharma).

• SATYA YUGA-The golden age lasts 1,728,000 years. The process of self-realization in this yuga is meditation on Visnu. During this yuga the majority of the population is situated in the mode of goodness and the average life span at the beginning of the yuga is 100,000 years.

• TRETA YUGA-This silver age lasts 1,296,000 years and the process of self realization is the performance of opulent yajnas(sacrifices). The average life span
is 10,000 years and the godly qualities decrease one fourth compared to the Satyayuga-Rama’s time

• DVAPARA YUGA-The bronze age, lasts 864,000 years and the process of self realization is the worship of the deities within temples. Godly qualities are
reduced to 50% by now and the average life expectancy is only 1000 years. Krishna’s time

• KALI YUGA-The iron age of hypocrisy and quarrel lasts 432,000 years. The process of self realization is sankirtana, the chanting of the Holy Names of the
Lord. God consciousness is reduced to 25% of the population and life expectancy is only 100 years. By now already 5000 years of Kali yuga have passed and it is
predicted that by the end of the yuga people will hardly be older than 20 years and their only food will be meat.

and you wonder why i keep pushing the SUNRIDER Herbs at you?

so you gotta kinda imagine what goes through my mind, since i was first instructed in this worldview from my Tibetan Teachers in Boulder in the early eighties, when i ride up a chairlift like i did yesterday (10″ of fresh pow!!!) with a guy who was a proud intellectual that now has cancer, he is completely ignorant of any Death Training regardless of his intellectual prowess, and is really bumming and said to me, “well, after all, i am 66 years old, so i guess that’s a pretty good run…”

so sad…i mean, here we are, Beings of Light once capable of generating a lifespan of 100,000 years, each one focused and fun on InnerAttainment now being so depleted by avidya that we are content to think that living 65 years of a life addicted to Enter-tainment and hampered by dis-ease ridden is a “good run”…

you see my Noble and Faithful Ones,
a recession is a mere training effect from Kali Yuga. to me, a recession is hopeful; for it forces the spiritual sleeping masses to re-examine (see my DL on that important Word Choice) their priorities. a return to more regional traveling, less expensive purchases, and a more stay-at-home lifestyle is a Divine Blessing. why? for such a return toward self might just increase the importance of personal well being and spiritual fitness.

instead of taking a trip to Paris, maybe sink that money into a beautiful revamped “sacred space” in your own home; a place to do puja, yoga, meditation and to re-read these DL’s as a part of Svadhyaya.

or use that money to create a kickass home gym and start sharing the Sacred Sweat with loved ones…

perhaps this recession may even ‘force’ the nuclear family to re-gather; affording more kinship among brothers and sisters, fathers and sons. perhaps we’ll upgrade our sports equipment instead of buying a new home so we can deepen our Sacred Sweat in vital ways. perhaps even, we may use the less-extravagant lifestyle associated with a recession to combat the lazy-spirited nature of Kali Yuga to Rise Above and take inner arm against the sea of extreme intensities that await all of us
upon our Last Gasp,
the beginning of our Bardo Journey…

feeble ilg’s shout may well be lost in the chaos of the Outer World, yet
let my voice be heard nonetheless;

ilg says, a recession is go(o)d.

Take It Inward and Know Thyself,

from your fiercely loving coach all these years because you are beautiful and brave and deserve the Highest Coaching…so let us Practice well…

* Bardo Training 101;
InDeed, the very FIRST re-entry in the Bardo; “Dying Realm” …and i say “re-entry” because each of us reading this have passed through the Bardo countless times…it’s just that we keep forgetting which is known in yoga as ‘avidya’ or spiritual ignorance...so we just keep pushing away Death Training – which is the only real Personal Fitness training that ultimately matters – until, well, we ‘land’ in the Bardo again. Once there again, suddenly…oooooh, the pain…the intensity…the horrifying intensity of what can only be compared to as insanely horrible hallucinations stemming from our unskilled Loving and Compassion Practices hits us and our meditation prowess is not fit enough to cope, so we do what we’ve been doing for countless lifetimes; we do the equivalent of ‘passing out’ in probably the first Realm of the Bardo. Darn. Lost the “Human Race” again, and we come back in another form (probably not in the Human Realm..for a Human incarnation is terribly, terribly, wildly precious and rare). this new form is one co-designed by the Divine and how you are living right now, to Learn the extremes and the intensities of further spiritual advancement for our Soul (Atman) to remain warrior fit through all of the nearly 50 Realms of the Bardo.
