If any current WF Student comes closest to my definition of a Wholistic Fitness Yogi, my Precious Online Student and old friend from Santa Fe, Josh Schrei currently is on the podium. i am currently training this highly skilled, experienced, and tapped in ashtangi for an ultra-distance trail race this spring in New Mexico. Not many yogis that i have met thus far in my life, display such fitness across the physiologic spectrum matched by such a high level of spiritual ripeness.
For ANYONE in our Tribe who can get to Santa Fe this Saturday night, do so. Student Josh is going to crank off a chi-filled presentation: The Lake of Nine Devotions: A Photographic Journey Though India

New York-based photographer Josh Schrei, whose photos have appeared in the New York Times and Washington Post and whose solo exhibits have received positive critical acclaim, will narrate a slideshow of his recent journey to India on Saturday, December 11th at the Railyard Performance Center in Santa Fe.
The show will feature photos of the devastating mudslides in Ladakh – a remote Tibetan region of northern India – and will ben…efit the victims of the slides, which claimed over a thousand lives and left thousands more homeless. Schrei — who happened to be traveling in the region at the time — photographed the devastation for AP newswire, and his firsthand accounts of the disaster were broadcast globally in the international press.
The Lake of Nine Devotions — named after the nine practices on the path of Bhakti Hinduism — will feature a firsthand narrative of Schrei’s trip through India, focusing on the rich devotional traditions of the south, the ancient pilgrimage sites of Uttarkhand, and finally the stark beauty of the former kingdom of Ladakh, which lies on an ancient Silk Road juncture along the Indus River. The narration will be punctuated with excerpts from the philosophical and devotional poetry of the region, and will center on the positive spirit of cooperation and devotion that permeated Ladakh after the slides rather than just on the devastation itself.
The show coincides with a larger benefit for Ladakh in New York City, at which 30 of Schrei’s photographs will be auctioned off for charity. Signed prints will be available for purchase at the Railyard event as well.
