moguls

photo this morning by ilg; lower moguls of Ray’s Ridge.   If you seek Freedom, yogi, then come ski and accept the Teachings from Gravity where love abides snuggled next to Fear and where every turn is a leap of Faith…this morning at Purg

there is a saying where i come from, “There’s no waiting for friends on a powder day.” several inches of a recent spring storm cel Graced my beloved San Juans with precious powder…though scheduled to do a road bike training ride (sorry, Walt!), i shined the pavement and embraced what could be the final powder day at Purg…and score, ilg did…

powder day

Powder snow skiing is not fun.  It’s life, fully lived, life lived in a blaze of reality.  ~Dolores LaChapelle.  Where my meditations go deeper within as easily as the hues of a sunrise;  Lift 8 at Purg this morning.

Gravity is love and every turn is a leap of faith…after absolutely ripping some fine fresh cords on the frontside (Upper Hades to Pandy; all groomed!  a former racers Nirvana!),  i then settled into my favorite winter job:  terrain management – how to dial in the most fun in the shortest amount of time (hey, some of us still have to ‘work’ for a living!).   Fortunately, on my hOMetown hill,  i’ve got the dialing set to speed dial…

as i was sailing through scintillating near vert fluff on Seigel Street at Mach 3,  there was a flash of Erma Bombeck before i set my edge; “I do not participate in any sport with ambulances at the bottom of the hill.” I felt only compassionate pity for such an unrisked life as the sexy glancing blows of cold virgin snow were left behind me, monuments marking the powder with my own signature soon to be erased as easily as a Tibetan Sand Painting blown away…

if you seek the feeling of Freedom, yogi…ski…
