on Wednesday last?

ilg led wire-to-wire in the three disciplines:  Nordic Skate Ski,  Fat Tire, Snowshoe

Start:   Nordic Skate Ski:   two and a half laps of a bastard course which included 400′ vert per lap.  KNEW ilg had to make an influence on nordic ski leg since ilg recognized that a very strong cyclist would kill ilg in the Fat Tire, and needed a cushion going into the Snowshoe (cuz? it all c(om)es down to the Run!!!

Skate Ski:  took out strong, hammering the first brutal 18% headwall at just below threshold pace… needed to make an indent into the suffering of those behind.  descending fast into the night (see ilg’s social media for actual footage of racing in the night),  felt solid on my skis… after two laps of this insanely steep uphill lap on skate skis,  ilg was looking forward to hammering on the Fat Tire Bike…

Fat Tire:  was first into transition among the soloists, only one Relay Team had beaten ilg… that’s okay… under the night lights, transitioning from Skate Skiing to Fat Tire bike racing no easy task;  was out of Transition #1 in under 2 minutes;  had a 45-second gap on 2nd place as ilg sprinted into the first of several uphills in the dark night…

Snowshoe:   by the end of the Fat Tire?  ilg was barely holding onto that same 45-second gap to 2nd place…fingers numb,   vision sooooo paltry in the high mountain night darkness… killed the transition frrom Fat Tire to Snowshoe and increased my lead over second to nearly a minute… just plunged into Zen Mind, Breathing Mind, Footstep Mind… Cadence Mind…  seeing my snowshoes send up a rooster tail of snow behind my heaving breaths at nearly 10k in altitude?  breathed a symbiotic wave of strength into my fast flying feet as i hammered into the dark night… as the on the fly race logistics made it clear that ilg would once again, finally,  be the Snowdown Triathlon King!??!

pushed myself even deeper into the Pain Cave in order to prepare my spiritual self for the races upc(om)ing over the next few weeks…

if YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE ANY $$$ to keep ilg racing this season?
