Kinda thinking that Trico Peak might just be a peak runners best bet for a benchmark high peak. The run begins at the summit of Red Mountain Pass, parking right off HWY 550, so car access is perfect. 5k’s of uphill running/grinding along one of America’s – if not THE – most notorious jeep roads promises solid tread and support if anything goes wrong. The off road navigation to the summit is short and easy to decipher, and it’s only about .8 miles. 2 false summits keep your high peak experience true while c(om)manding rooftop of the Rockies views over Telluride and Silverton drainages are beyond beautiful; you’ll see in this Vlog.
