COACH ILG…”THE EGOTIST”

one of the many “not so fan” emails i get each day. this time, i felt like responding;

“I just started looking at your weblog recently. Being a yoga practitioner for many years, I’ve been struck by a somewhat egotist tone to some of your postings. It certainly seem to clash with the precepts of yoga as I’ve come to see them.
Amateur athletics might beperceived to be quite different from yoga’s philosophic teachings, but I don’t really think so. (I assume you don’t think so either)
I saw a posting on a cross country ski site today that sums up my attitude :
“The Golden of amateur athletics is the quality of the performance is inversely proportional to the quantity of its self promotion”
I’ll still keep up with your postings, as I think there is a strong connection with athletic pursuits and yoga.
I’ll probably run into you sometime on Sandia Peak, which is where I spend many blissful hours yearround.
Namaste’ R B”

Most Noble Fitness Warrior RB –
(it is customary in my ‘temple’ to at least include a polite salutation when emailing others.
as Gandhi said, “There is more to life, than merely accelerating its speed.”)

i bow to your letter, thank you.
i learn from you.

even the desire for Awakening, for Enlightenment
requires egoic structure, does it not?

i in-courage you to keep looking through my humble yet powerful ‘temple archives’ and published books…
in nearly a quarter century of devoting my life to inspiring others through demonstration and action,
you may dis-cover a deeper layer to what you see as “egotist” in your quick perusal and judgment of myself.

i bow to your Devoted Practice,
