The hummingbirds have left.
Four days before the first overnight freeze.
How do they know
what they know?

Why have we lost such inner science of Self?

Whom Taught YOU to know, what you “know”?

Yesterday evening, Ananda and i took our Practice to another of our backyard trails known as
“Upper Oldham”…a narrow slice of alpine trail that twists and turns upon itself as it snakes its way up
the steep slope like the Princess Kundala Herself snaking Her Cosmic Way up Sushumna. It would take me nearly
22 minutes to run up and into the trail’s summit alpine meadow still bejeweled by wildflowers hanging on for dear, dear life.

no small feat, bringing your feet up this route;
it climbs from 7,600′ to 9,000′ in a mere 1.5 miles!
i devoted my sweat last evening to the Autumnal Gods, and
though my spinal injury still sears my body with pain while running,
i surrender the Pain as karmic Purification to Brahman and His Dance That Is..

oh, i can only trust you enjoy Shakespeare
and true chi running…

May your Practice be Blessed and strong and fleet on this Day of Days…

You are Beautiful,

“That time of year thou mayst in me behold
When yellow leaves, or none, of few, do hang

Upon those boughs which shake against the cold,
Bare ruined choirs where late the sweet birds sang.

In me thou see’st the twilight of such day
As after sunset fadeth in the west,
Which by and by black night doth take away,
Death’s second self, that seals up all in rest.

In me thou see’st the glowing of such fire
That on the ashes of his youth doth lie,
As the deathbed whereupon it must expire,
Consumed with that which it was nourished by.
This thou perceiv’st which makes thy love more strong.
To love that well which thou must leave ere long.

– William Shakespeare
