deserted mountains
happy with grass and pines.”

photo of coach training on the Weatherford Trail, 9,200′.
oh yeah, like THIS is gonna work.
in a few minutes i am about to embark on Arizona’s oldest mountain trail run known as “The Annual War Dog Trail Run.” This half-marathon run climbs 3,000′ and used to be sponsored by both Nike and Coors back in the day when outdoor adventure athletics still had some grounded soul wisdom.
now, to bring a little more WF CHI to this event, instead of commuting by car up to the 8,800′ trailhead, i am gonna ride my mountain bike and intercept those mountain runners like a ninja in lycra and THEN run with the runners to the 11,400′ saddle and back again.
at least,
that’s my plan.
ouch.
i’ll sign off with a haiku for you:
this is gonna hurt. (5)
keep the CHI and think of me (7)
we learn by doing (5)
