3 ONGOING CRUXES OF WF…and…HONORING THE TRIBAL DRUM WITHIN
The essential and ongoing crux of a body-oriented Path to spiritual growth
is dastardly simple. yet it demands such perseverance within ourselves, most Spiritual Paths
– you may have noticed – try to side step the body enroute to Enlightenment. WF honors the body, uses the body,
and gains freedom (mukti) through (not around) the body.
Here are the three ‘cruxes’ of a body-oriented spiritual growth Path like Wholistic Fitness:
*where there is tightness or tension in the body; the warrior must attack it with softness training.
*where there is weakness or imbalance in the physique; the warrior must attack it with intensity training.
*where the ego controls the mind; the warrior must attack it with meditation in action.
You see Noble Ones, so much of our challenges (which the UnAwakened call ‘problems’) within today’s society stem from people clinging onto their past. We live in yesterday intstead of today. This unconscious grasping (onto yesterday) keeps the Miracle of Mindfulness from arising today. We don’t dare ourselves to experience our moments directly. We cover them up with all sorts of inculcated desires, clinginings, imaginary needs, etc. If we would live but one moment Authentically…we would be like the Village Idiot…or a small child; absolutely intoxicated by the mystery of the Great Spirit dancing all around and within. But we don’t allow ourselves such de-civilized be-have-your (behavior) do we? Nope. We gotta keep playing Grown Up. We do not have, unfortunately, enough Teachers to remind us: When they tell you to grow up, they didn’t mean, ‘stop growing.’
Whatever arises for you today, i want you to bring it into your Practice; make that your yoga. If you are brave enough to do this, the circumstances of your life – however mundane your ego has fooled yourself into believing they are – will explode your moments with rich “Haiku like” insight and each moment will offer you something far better than any time in the past, mythical or real. As Eric Francis writes, “Daring to experience it can feel like leaping over a canyon. It’s really not so far or dangerous, though. Except for one thing: the only way to find out is to try.”
No one can test your faith but you. Today, do not cleverly substitute other possibilities for your faith; eat your herbs, do your workout, sit with elegance, breathe consciously, pick up a piece of litter with your non dominant hand, smile at everyone. Make your Workout Everywhere for there is no substitute for Lightness in the darkness. What you have been conditioned by textbooks and other people to believe as your ‘physical heart’ is truly a concentrated, extended reverberation of The Ancient Tribal Drum; each beat of your heart is but a built-in re-Minder to re-Member your Source, your Connection! If we choose not to Appreciate and not Listen to our Tribal Drum Within, perhaps a “heart attack” will make the Universal Beat more important to you. Don’t let it get that far out of rythym…BREATHE, MOVE, DANCE WARRIOR! Move to your Tribal Drum Within today! Cultivate compassion in the midst of conflict. Your herb-fed, truth-speaking, peace-seeking/attacting WF Warrior Body is truly not a body at all: it is a symmetrical, balanced human torch carved and chiseled by years of sweat and spirit; never think that you are unable to help many people around you in these strange and uncertain times. You, my noble Wholistic Fitness Yogin, are a Gift to the world! You have begun to know your true nature. You have begun to know things with Intuitive Wisdom. You have begun to feel the gift of that knowledge, of trust, and of Love. Today, I want you to share that Gift or i will personally kick your unappreciative ass ! Now, git out there and DANCE WARRIOR! Dance until your damn bones BREAK!
