To my Teacher,

Another nomination for DL of the Year 2006. I know there are no coincidences. I had, however, been thinking about Siddhasana. The Sutras say there’s no asana like Padmasana and Siddhasana and here’s what i was pondering. For those of us who do not have Padmasana permission from our energetic and gross bodies YET, would sitting in Siddhasana be a g(o)od asana for sitting anytime and anywhere (while eating ,reading etc) to help those hips open?

and lo and behold your Siddhasana teaching appears………beautiful Teaching and picture/example. Thank you

open hippie love,
ss

COACH RESPONDS:
Most Noble Student SS,
no.
the correct Siddhasana, the traditional Siddhasana is much more difficult than Padmasana. you are probably mistaking “Burmese Foot Position” (see TBT) for traditional Siddhasana. the Scriptures are very clear about how to sit in the energetically appropriate Siddhasana; the heel of the left foot must press INTO the perineum (space between genitals and anus) and the other heel presses the pubis; above the genitals. with just a touch of exploration, the yogin will realize just how difficult this posture is to attain – let alone maintain for up to several hours – the heels press into deeply profound nerve centers (the prelude to the Nadis) which can take most of us years to slowly and safely be guided through as per our Teacher’s instructions. what you do NOT want to do is to start cramming your heel bone into this very sensitive and energetically potent area; that is a recipe for a screwed up neural impingement/crushing and/or a disastrous Kundalini episode.

stick with WF Online Training Guidance to prevent going backwards in energetic work and hurting yourself.

absolutely fine to keep fine tuning Burmese Style in both elegance and duration.

om so ti,
