If not this year, when?   C’mon…toe the Start Line with me again during this May’s 42nd Annual Iron Horse Bicycle Classic here in Durango!   The Iron Horse is the second of my 3 Sacred Sweat Pilgrimages each year;   Mt. Taylor Winter Quadrathlon (Feb) and Imogene Pass Run (Sept) being the other two…if you can crank all three in a calendar year?  Trust me,  it’s an AMAZING Wholistic Transformation…i know,  i’ve done ’em enough during this lifetime and still thrive on the training it takes just to get to the Start Line of any one of the Sacred Three…let alone ALL of them each year!  C’mon…here’s the information below and this race sells out in days,  if not HOURS!   Pic:  tonight in Durango where we had a special Locals Only Registration…because, well,  we’re stinkin’ locals and we git to!!   in this one shot?  there are SEVERAL cycling dignitaries…even Ned Overend was there to sign up,  once again!  c’mon!  Join our crazy Iron Horse Parade this May!   pic by National Nordic Team Member; Gary C.

Registration for the 2013 Iron Horse Bicycle Classic opens Dec 1, 2012. The event will be held Memorial Day Weekend, May 25/26/27 2013. We have just launched a new website ironhorsebicycleclassic.com and we are excited to get things underway for another great year. All the great events are back, The McDonald’s Citizens Tour, Coca Cola Road Race, Quarter Horse to Purgatory, Morehart Murphy Criterium, BP Time Trial, Omnium, MBS Mountain Bike Race, Sprite Kids Race, and the Alpine Bank Push Bike Park. Whew, that’s a lot!!

Key points for the 2013 event. (Just a few!)

For 2013, we will time the McDonald’s Citizens Tour to Silverton. You must start with the Train at 8:30am (College and Camino Del Rio) in order to receive a time. Early bird riders are not eligible.
For the racers, we are no longer sanctioned by USA Cycling. We are following similar category designations and will offer all the great racing options as years past. No license necessary. You will not earn upgrades points as we are not sanctioned – FYI.

The fast growing Quarter Horse to Purgatory 25 mile Tour is once again ready to roll. Durango Mountain Resort is also offering lodging specials. See our website for details
We have greatly expanded out IHBC Merchandise for 2013, from riding gear to casual wear for men and women, we are also offering kids T’s with a cool new train logo. Stock up, we will ship it to you well in advance of the event.
For the Mountain Bike Racers, once again you will ride the course that skirts the perimeter of Fort Lewis College, and also travels right into the heart of Downtown Durango and rides along the Criterium course. Pro/Cat 1 racers will again race through Steamworks Brewery. If you we there in 2012, the crowds and excitement were amazing.

There is the preview. Registration opens December 1, 2012. Last year’s event sold out in a matter of days (hours for some race categories). Get logged in and ready to go Dec 1, and make sure you join the tradition in Durango!
