feeble ilg LOVES QUOTES….

in fact, the second book ilg ever authored was THE OUTDOOR ATHLETE’S TRAINING JOURNAL (*1992/Cordillera Press) was all about quotes!

the tea with that book?

young ilg was OBSESSED with high performance;

how much bigger could ilg make his feeble calves to win a BodyBuilding Competition, how many 100-mile weeks could ilg consecutively run,  how
hard could ilg send the new free climb or free solo?  how many one-arm pull-ups would ilg need to do to beat Pat Adams?  how steep could ilg ice climb?  how fast could ilg ski race?

was OBSESSED with facts, figures, data (long before the internet was even imagined)... journaling mean EVERYTHING to ilg…literally have in
our family garage boxes full of my journaling journals.

somewhat funny?  ilg began journaling after finding a 12-month journal in a Penthouse mag that young ilg (then Creator/Captain of the once great Fort Horny Toad childhood fort at what is now known as the South Trailhead of the Colorado Trail… yeah, that was literally ilg’s chi-ldhood backyard with my Wolf Being;  Apache…) stole from raiding yet another hippie tent – fun fact;  when you go to the now stupidly busy south Trailhead of Colorado Trail at Junction Creek?  There used to be drive in camping to the first footbridge over the irrigation ditch which ran in front of ilg’s childhood home.  many other hippies would camp dispersed in the field across (south) of ilg’s chi-ldhood h(om)e at the base of Superstition Mountain…Captain Ilg would regularly orchestrate raiding parties among the Hippie tents and drive in tourists to search for and secure (in matter of priority):  any pornographic magazine (there were only two choice back then;  Penthouse or Playboy, the former being preferred),  $, anything sharp,  or something else  we could resell at a thrift store or use in our fort.

Yet, ilg digresses.   (forgive my Geminian traits)

Comment below:  what are YOUR Podium lifetime quotes?

***

Here, at 63, are feeble ilgs:

“There is no good or bad. There are only consequences.”

“Argue your limitations, and sure enough, they’re yours.”

“Blessed are those who have no expectations, for they shall never be disappointed.”

“The Way To Win, Is To Make It Okay To Lose.”

and NUMBER ONE of feeble ilg’s LIFELONG QUOTES!??!

“Love is all there is.”

in ilg’s next Blog?
ilg will detail each quote;  how it came to ilg (HUGE; #transmissionmatters),  ilg’s dharmic interpretation of it, and how it has effected and affected ilgs life as an elite multi-sport athlete, coach, healer, and c(om)muicator…

head bowed,
spirit vowed,

your feeble teacher of no-thing
since 1981
