WF Chi Hit from the past…steve ilg on the never-repeated “Balloon Saloon Traverse,”
Pagosa Springs, Colorado. circa 1990. i called it the Balloon Saloon because the route was this excruciatingly long traverse along a historic wall of an old saloon in downtown Pagosa Springs, and you had to be as light as a balloon to make it. so much as breathe too heavily, and you’d be off. and i fell off this thing a hundred times or more over the course of an entire summer. i had to get my bodyfat to 2% before i was successful on this route and you can see how lean i was! it’s always a matter of ‘how bad do you want it?’ photo by Jennifer Heightley.
