like a kirtan chant made visible, these hot (by Durango standards; about 88 degrees) sexy summer days are made just that much more blissful by the near daily monsoon afternoon showers which swing through, making everything from sunflowers to baby daughters grow like skyscrapers before my eyes…
…there’s the free play’s (and hot dogs and lemonade) in Rotary Park backed up by what just HAPPENS TO BE, a world-class orchestra visiting for our summer Music In The Mountains…
this play was “Peter and the Wolf” which held Dewa’s interest for about 13 minutes before jumping up like a Glacier Lily in April shouting, “C’mon Mommy and Daddy, let’s ride bikes home!” Her right hand holds, “Dewa” doll and in her left is “Colorful”, her pet super ball she won in an arcade game in Albuquerque last week…outfit exclusively by Dewa.
…meanwhile, Abba (me), has been spending less-than-i-desire-yet-still-far-more-than-most-get time up among the seductive cathedral of my San Juan rocky heights…these “old man of the mountains” remind me of the DVD i just finished for my father’s memorial gathering coming up this month…
…are you swooning yet? i cannot BELIEVE how few of you do NOT sign up for a WF Retreat Adventure with me during these few blissful summer months up here in the lofty source of WF! you can spend a half day with me up here for less than some spend on a bottle of wine! and talk about a far Higher intoxication!?!?

…oh yeah…after cranking my go-to hour+ singletrack MTB hillclimb this week, i rode past this ol’ precious “Pondy” (ponderosa) which commands a hill one block away from my house…i did a double, then a triple take as i pedaled by…looking up into her highest branches i saw…
…my precious Sister Bear…scared up the tree by local off-leash (bad owners, bad owners!). the poor Bear Being sweated out the whole day up in the tree before climbing safely (thank you Vishnu!) down during the evening…
…then, of course there is the permagrin on my face living with a little Rinpoche…chickens, veggie garden, Beloved Saint as a partner and fly fishing out my door each day…

…last evening i was honored to give my time to speak on “MENTAL PREPARATION” for a Tucson-based youth cycling camp called, el GRUPO…throughout this week, 16 kids (age 12-18) came up to Durango for a cycling camp and got to ride and participant with such local legends as Ned Overend, Travis Brown, Elke Brusart, Sarah Tescher, Todd Wells, and Yours Truly…i had a WONDERFUL time with these amazing warriors…(check out the Full Lotus on the kid 3rd from left! are you kidding me!?!?)
…teaching them Zen and several other Mental Training Techniques before finishing with putting them in Savasana and Transmitting the WF Pre Event Meditation to them for their big race up here on tomorrow: the Hermosa Creek Classsic. Thanks, Dave, for the opportunity for me to ‘give back’ and good luck with the race tomorrow, kids!
