Maybe our Mayor is the misguided one?  Dewachen seems to consider public parks full of Dandelions just Dandy…how about you?  Want you and our children to play in Dandelion-studded organic parks or toxic-waste dumps?

To the City Council of Durango,

When my family moved to Durango 4 years ago, our first park visit was to Brookside Park. It saddens me to read that Mayor Sweetie Marbury refers to this beautiful organic park as “deathly ill.” It is my perspective that it’s the vision that weeds are a determent to the beauty and safety of Brookside, Riverview and Folsom Park that’s deathly ill. I do not support the removal of these 3 parks from the original City’s Organic program.
We live in the Riverview district and play at the sports complex almost daily. To be able to have my daughter play and roll around with her friends on the ground knowing she is not ‘ingesting’ chemical toxins is huge. A City Council that puts the health of our environment and our families first before budget cuts and weed-less manicured lawns is the type of leadership we need in our Durango community and beyond.
Sincerely,
