K…everyone by now pretty much knows that the chi-ld(ren) who choose to c(om)e through us are our Rinpoche’s…our Highest Teachers this time around.

Same thing can be said – case by case scenario however – with the Dog and Cat Beings that drift into and from our current incarnation.  Questions on Human and Animal Karma taken by Consultation.

Today…huge spiritual training at the Lotus Feet of “my” 8 year-old daughter, Dewachen…

coming off an AMAZING performance from Dewa whose been living in Florida for the past month (i KNOW?!)  she cranked off a scintillating 1 mile run with no warm up, got a cramp within minutes of starting,  into a 2-mile MTB and finished 1st AG and 3rd Overall in Girls.   (Feeble ilg was stoked to get 2nd Overall in the Sprint Distance race – 5k run into 18k MTB)!

the day after, we remained in my old h(om)etown of Pagosa Springs.  we slept in…then, i led D toward a most sacred, remote, waterfall that i first saw in my early teens and has forever stuck in my cells…i wanted the same for D…Piedra Falls beneath the Sacred Peak of Pagosa Peak where once i established a GNARLY ultra-duathlon MTB/Peak Bag/MTB race known as the Pagosa Peak Duathlon…i ran it for 3 years, won it every year, and our max field was 6 Warriors.   LOVE IT!!!   Ilg legacy…you woulda have to have been there up in those 12,000′ high ethereal scenes…oh!!!

so, the day after our taking of almost-all-scalps at the Pagosa Duathlon in our respective races,  after sleeping in late at a motel we frequent (i KNOW?!?!) and watching the minimum of 3 ‘SpongeBobSquarePants’ episodes while laying in the all-ways more comfortable than your own bed motel beds,  we headed out on a 3-fold Mission:

  1. find secret waterfall that Daddy had not been to in like 20 years
    2. fish at beautiful reservoir at the foot of America’s largest wilderness area (besides Alaska)
    3. enjoy a run/hike/river-whack through the Upper Piedra Canyon where i used to watch River Otters cavort during my winter snowshoe/nordic skiing excursions when i used to live in Pagosa Springs…

Gotta say…Just Flow With The Chi-ld(ren) Who Did What It Took To C(om)e Through You…

today’s memories are beyond Beyond…here is the Highest Part…so, after running to the Secret Waterfall crashing (watch my personal Facebook page for video) with D,  then, fishing at the remote, high lake where Bear Beings outnumber the Human  Beings – and we did not even have a bit which is why they call it Fishing instead of Catching – we then did a trail run in shoes into the River Otter Realm where i used to witness – on skis and snowshoes during winter when/where no one else would travel there,  River Otters splashing, gliding, swimming, skiing, sliding upon the watery iced snows which lacquered the Precious Piedra those long ago years…

at first, the River Otter Beings would regard ilg with anxious curiousity, until, by mid winter, They accepted ilg as part of the routine…Oh!  How they would Snow/Ice Play!!!    their precious antics permeating my deepest memories as throwing karma into my own Bardo Entry!   what a springboard feeble ilg shall have!  Ha!!!

so,  Dewa and i took off our shoes, socks and travel into and then upstream into the wild river, negotiating the slippery and then sharp underwater rocks as the 7,20 cfs waters still tingled our balance to withstand the current up to Dewa’s upper thighs…

“Dewa!  here are your shoes!” i shouted as we finally regained the bank toward the trail back to the car one mile upstream.

“Oh Dad!!  we don’t need shoes!!  Let’s feel Mother!” she replied, like an Instamatic acoustic mirror to all my barefoot/yogi Teachings throughout the decades…

basically?

we walked barefoot upstream through River onto Trail and back to car over 2 kilometers of rugged, sharped-rocked terrain, until, just as we were approaching the VERY WELL GRAVELED Trailhead Parking Lot,  D said,

“Daddy?  I’m tired,  can you carry me?”

Breathing…my barefeet already aching from the 2k mission…

“Sure,  hop onto my shoulders,” i said, exhaling into her 60lbs jumping onto my shoulders…

the pebbles, the gravel, the heated Earth biting deeper into my pain threshold every step until we reached Chloe (our Rav 4) whereupon i yogi squatted on the hot gravel as D hopped, laughingly upon Ma again…

“Thanks, Dad.”

“Thank YOU, Precious Daughter!”  i replied while leaping my tortured bare feet into the car’s cushiony shade.
