yeah, dat’s right… you’re looking at a 2.5 cubic liter V8 engine with 300 HP and … get this:  400lbs of torque literally jet fueled by turbines with the highest off road racing tires/suspension… 0-60 in 2.1 seconds…

ilgs first little Toyota sport pickup with a camper shell that ilg basically lived in as one of our nations first sponsored rock/ice/mountain climbers in the late ’70’s.   ilg got White Lightning cuz ilg is no longer driving huge highway miles to get Dewa to Jr. National  Nordic, track, and XC races several hundred miles away from Durango all year… so sacrificing gas mileage and hybrid for a full on racing off road vehicle that ilg could literally drive up El Cap if needed!   stay tuned to the renewed Steve Ilg YouTube Channel which will soon reLaunch!

driving White Thunder is a dreamlike experience;  like these Cloud Sisters as ilg closed in on Sterling, Colorado on Drive Day #1 to get Dewa…missed a Tornado by 18 miles…torrential downpour with hail… meanwhile ilgs hometown of Durango WALLOWS in drought..

navigating through the traffic of Big Cities just amplifies ilgs appreciation of still living in ilgs sacred H(om)etown beneath the Sacred Peak of DibeNitsaa

My Dewa Prank!
so, I had Dewa thinking she would pick me up from the Des Moines (means, The Monks, that’s fucking aura) Airport on Sunday.  instead?  ilg drove out solo to surprise her…told her that since we were gonna tow her ’07 Corolla back home for the summer, I might need some numbers for the U Haul car tow… so while she thinks Daddy is still in Colorado?   ilg phone calls her 50 meters away from where she is sleeping in her boyfriends parents home in West Des Moines on Saturday morning…
“Hey D! sorry, I know its early but can you go out to your car and read off some numbers for me?”
“Oh, um, okay…hold one..”
she thinks I am in Colorado.
ilg is literally watching her walk out to her car….

“Okay Dad,  I’m at my car,”
“K, so, there should be some numbers in the car jam, do you see them?”
“Uh, yes..”
“Okay, but first?  Need you to step away from your car and look down the street,”
“uhhhh,….”

She stepped away and ilg sprang outta our new Truck and she was like, WAIT WHAT IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW!?!?

OMG.

Dewa eventually connected the dots and took her first spin in White Thunder, literally the top of the line Off Road Racing Vehicle of the past 5 years…
