“Coach Steve Ilg, thank you for your confidence in me and many thanks to all Yogis, Yoginis, and Athletes who constantly inspire me on a DAILY basis.”
For ilg? Mt. Taylor begins right here…on the spongy track and field of my alma mater; Miller Jr. High School….my churchyard of a thousand sacred sweats…for this former paralyzed yogi? today marked the beginning of my run training to perhaps complete, maybe even cOMpete toward another podium in February’s Mt. Taylor Winter Quadrathlon…will YOU join me? if you think you have Endurance? if you consider yourself a yogi? C(om)e, toe this Start Line – solo – with me this Feb….think you’re “cross-fit”? okay…c’mon…throw down THIS 3 decade-long Test Piece of WF and join the esteemed ranks of other WF Warriors who’ve accomplished it: Fit Kit, Padma, Yogi Jut, Yogi bRad, Flex Armstrong, and perhaps one or two more WF Students that have taken Sacred Pilgrimage to cOMplete this race as a soloist.
So, when age and/or injury creeps into an endurance athletes life? Fear not; there is always the call of the asphalt ribbons to be ridden!
I suppose it’s the sanest part of me that naturally gravitates toward these serrated skylines of granite, sandstone and sun-splintered early morning rapids and ripples. Perhaps the most redeeming quality that can be associated with this incarnation known as ‘ilg’ is that which has been undeniably attuned with Sacred Appreciation to the whirring symphony of hummingbirds, aspens quaking, and splashes of trout surfacing through snowmelt waters…
Warrior Coach and Birthday Boy Ilg this morning…HP Yoga and WF Students once again covered the podiums and new PR’s on Day 2 of 3 of the Sacred Sweat Pilgrimage #2; the IHBC…
Professionally however, ilg enjoyed an awesome day with at least 6 of my athletes/yoga students getting PR’s…even in the wind! i had at least 3 students place in the top ten of their races!
Before i pinned yet another Auspicious race number upon my jersey yet again…a smile as wide as my most open Upavisthva Konasana permeated my face as i punched the safety pins through the race bib…
they say a Teacher should be judged by the wisdom and capacity of his Students…
so, here, on this Sacred Pilgrimage night of nights is
why feeble, ol’ ilg was grinning like a newborn
and feeling so Blessed to have and to race with the Spirits
of such amazing Students as Thee:
