Coach,

your clarity is staggering.

if i may interject my thoughts regarding WF online training. i have just completed my 4th month of training and from my perspective the results begin at the application process. for those who might be considering, take this advice from a current student, APPLY, you may or may not be accepted right away. you will grow from coach’s care in the application process. you will never experience this path fully if you sit back and watch. Toe the start line!

one on one interaction in formal study with ec will far exceed your expectations of any fitness trainer on the planet.

Moment of Intertia –

Submitted in the WF SanghaLounge by WF Student Luke: Fellow WF warriors,

Let me first explain what I mean by moment of inertia (the term is borrowed from physics). I don’t know what term WF would use to refer to this.

Its the resistance you can sometimes feel (psychologically and physically) in that first down-dog, or right before deciding to get out a mat and do some yoga, or right before tying your shoes for a run, or right when I get up in the morning and ask whether I will cardio commute or not.

It’s doubt, but not logical doubt, because I KNOW that getting on my bike for my commute is good for me and I feel amazing during it and afterward. It should be a no brainer. So why do I have to use my brain! I still feel that small hesitation before riding (especially in rainy Seattle during the winter–brrrr!). This feeling seems to get stronger with monotony and fatigue. And in moments of inspiration, it doesn’t exist at all! Its what the lazy in us uses to say “why don’t you just take a nap, wouldn’t that be nice?”.

From Practice, I know that every-time I breathe through these feelings of resistance and get

Mördarbacken (Killer Hill)…My Most Sacred Sweat Of All

Your Feeble Mountain Yogi Ilg, sky high today on my most Sacred Sweat of all my Durango workouts; my infamous “Mordarbacken”…which is now part of the nordic skate skiing ultra: Tour de Ski coming up on my Race Schedule on January 22. Behind me is the radiance of my chi-ldhood Sacred Mountains; the La Plata’s caught here in my pic beaming their namesake silver aura.

I actually have not been able to ski this old traditional nordic skate skiing torture/bliss fest which i called, The Mordarbacken, since I was in my twenties! You can only imagine how stoked I was to revisit this old Ilg Standard which repulsed all my training partners who were able to finish it with me (only 2 out of 5 did!). This workout requires 2 hours of uphill ski skating at elevations starting at 8,793′ and finishes at about 11,213′ upon the base of Grayrock Peak (12,604′) which you’ll see in my 11 photos below (watch my YouTube Channel for a music video of this route).

2 hours up of skate skiing…followed by a scintillating, jump-filled descent on tiny edgeless skate skis in 32 minutes…most of which need to be spent in Chair Pose (Utkatasana)…you wanna come with me? Sure…you’re gonna have a challenge figuring out however, which of the photos to use as your new ScreenSaver…reader beware!
