when was the last time you out-sprinted a teenager after running a heart rate of 166+ for 50 minutes at 9,000’…and WON!?!
“Green Tara baby! Its on like donkey kong! I can’t wait to send you some pics where you can see your work and inspiration in me. You and your teachings keep me sane. Thank you sir! I can’t wait to get a job (been out of work for over a year) and join the member area of WF. Wishing you the best of days sir!”
“One word, ANIMAL!” says National MTB Champion Joe Burtoni about my effort to regain my former King of the Mountain title at last weekend’s Chama Ski Classic. ilg lost the title by not being fast enough in the snowshoe..yet, as i tell my 5 year-old daughter, “Competition means, by definition, To Arise From Within,”..she gets it. do you? Toe the Start Line of SOMETHING, ANYTHING…and feel how the Sangha of Competition lifts you waaaay higher than not cOMpeting…get out there and do your Noble Best…
…and, i get the privilege of attempting to defend an overall title…and at 51? such privileges don’t cOMe by too often anymore!
word on the snow is that National Cycling Champion, Howard Grotts is gunning to toe the Start Line of my Winter Warrior Snowshoe Race this Feb. 9th. in fact, he is coming to my Snowshoe Clinic this weekend, “to learn some technique”..that makes 2 National Champions, (Travis Brown, being the other) that realize the value of high intensity sport snowshoeing to their off-season cycling fitness by toeing my Start Line…how about you?
If not this year, when? C’mon…toe the Start Line with me again during this May’s 42nd Annual Iron Horse Bicycle Classic here in Durango! The Iron Horse is the second of my 3 Sacred Sweat Pilgrimages each year; Mt. Taylor Winter Quadrathlon (Feb) and Imogene Pass Run (Sept) being the other two…if you can crank all three in a calendar year? Trust me, it’s an AMAZING Wholistic Transformation…
ilg calls this posture; Apresthresholdhellasana. ilg reckons this is what the common man is afraid of…spewing Sacred Spit after 51 minutes of Threshold uphill running through snow…yes, feeble ilg missed breaking the 50-minute barrier up the 2,029′ walls of snow by 1 stinkin’ minute. aaaaargh!!! That’s okay…in failure, we learn more than through success. Next week? If it still hasn’t snowed? I already have a different route selection that just may save me those few seconds to break 50-minutes. Such goes the Warrior Mind.
